A message around finisher’s towels

What a week! We have had the bushfire crisis in our area as you would be well aware and now the manufacturer of our finisher towels for the Nepean Triathlon has let us down. In regard to the towels, we had two options, give competitors a $10 refund each at registration, or provide every finisher with two tickets into the Rural Fire Service raffle which has over $3000 worth of prizes.

We have decided on the second option as doing a $10 refund to everyone would prove difficult and costs of doing so would reduce the refund significantly. Plus our Rural Fire Service have supported both the Nepean Triathlon and the Blue Mountains community enormously.

Every finisher will still receive a finisher’s long sleeve cooldry shirt in registration and a commerative medal plus now the two raffle tickets ($10) in the RFS raffle.  These tickets will be issued when you finish the race giving you the chance to win thousands of dollars of value in three different hampers. We are committed to giving each finisher the value of their entry fee so these tickets will be paid for by the Nepean Triathlon direct to the RFS. The presentation will be made at the race presentation. We trust that you agree with this decision given the week the RFS has been through!

Update on the fire situation (25 October)

As mentioned yesterday, the fire situation has eased in the Blue Mountains and conditions have improved substantially since earlier in the week. Competitors should be aware, however, that there may be low levels of smoke in the atmosphere that could affect those who have a history of respiratory issues such as asthma etc.
