Beven and King Return

Joanne King returned to the Nepean Triathlon 10 years after her last victory in 1997 to claim her 3rd Nepean title overall.

Another former winner, Brad Beven, who won in 1990, returned as a guest of the event to compete in the Nepean Triathlon 17 years later. Now aged 39, Brad was still a serious contender for outright victory.

Some say during the event it looked like he was still racing the televised grand prix series which he was so famous for. He actually started the run in first place with a host of top triathletes in pursuit. Aaron Farlow and Chris Kemp managed to overtake him on the run leaving Beven to claim an impressive 3rd place. Farlow then managed to gap Kemp and run away with his second Nepean Triathlon victory.
