The Nepean Triathlon

An Iconic Community Event Continues

The days of all the best pros in Australia racing in the Nepean Triathlon take a temporary pause with the range of national and international competition available making it hard to fit into the elite calendar.

The race committee (all competitors themselves) focus on keeping the race affordable to the masses and provide good value for money. The finisher medal, finisher shirt, electronic timing and legendary lucky draw prizes from sponsors are all included for little over $50.

The Nepean Triathlon has always attracted up and coming athletes and 2002 was no different. Nick Horman from Campbelltown took out the men’s title before getting on the podium at the world junior championships a couple of weeks later. Melissa Ashton took out the women’s event and was one of the top girls on the triathlon circuit for many years. Melissa was the 2004 and 2005 Australian long course champion and came 9th in the 2006 Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon.
