Post Olympics Triathlon Hype

The Olympics had just been held in September in Sydney with Triathlon featuring for the first time with Aussie Michellie Jones taking silver in the women’s event. Triathlon has appeared in the Olympics ever since.

Leigh Chapman returned in 2000 to take back to back titles. The female champion was Helena Edmonston who was a stalwart of the Sydney triathlon circuit for many years and had placed in the top ten of the world champs 3 times (1992–1994).
